Οι πολυθρόνες «χούφτα», για εξωτερικό χώρο, είναι δυο πρωτότυπες πολυθρόνες,
βασισμένες στην θέση των χεριών μας όταν αυτά σχηματίζουν μια χούφτα. Η επιλογή
αυτής της φόρμας έγινε λόγου της στοργής και ζεστασιάς που δείχνουμε σε ότι
κρατάμε μέσα σε μία χούφτα.
Με μία
μινιμαλιστική, οικολογική αλλά και οικονομική προσέγγιση, το τελικό σχέδιο
διαμορφώθηκε, αφαιρώντας ότι περιττό υλικό υπήρχε πάνω στην καρέκλα, δίνοντας
έτσι αυτό το κενό σχήμα με τις ραβδώσεις, στο σώμα της καρέκλας. Για να
τονιστεί αυτός ο σχεδιασμός, έχουν χρησιμοποιηθεί δύο αποχρώσεις ξύλου
διαδοχικά. Το ξύλο είναι το βασικό και μοναδικό υλικό του σκελετού των
καρεκλών. Ο λόγος που επιλέχτηκε είναι η αντοχή τους στις καιρικές συνθήκες και
το γεγονός ότι
«γερνάει» μαζί με το αντικείμενο, δίνοντας του έτσι μία συνεχή εξέλιξη μέσα
στον χρόνο. Έχουν σχεδιαστεί δύο πρωτότυπα, μια πολυθρόνα με χερούλια
και μία χωρίς.
Τέλος, για να
επιτευχθεί η άνεση του επίπλου έχουν μελετηθεί οι βασικές αρχές και αναλογίες
της στάσης του σώματος ενός ανθρώπου που κάθετε σε μία πολυθρόνα. Ενώ προστέθηκαν και μαξιλάρια στο κάθισμα και
στην πλάτη για ακόμα περισσότερη άνεση.

The “handful” armchairs, for outdoor use, are two prototype armchairs, based on the position of our hands when
they form a handful. The warmth and the affection that we show on everything
that we hold in a handful, was the reason i chose this form.
Within a minimalist, ecological and
economic approach, the final design of the armchairs was formed, by removing
everything unnecessary material that was on the armchair, giving this void
shape with ribs to the main body. To emphasize this design, i had used two
different shades of wood consecutively. The way this two chairs will be used,
guided me to use wood, as the one and only material on this two chairs. And
this because it has a great resistance on the weather conditions and as it ages
with them is giving a constant evolution over time. The legs and the arms in
this two chairs are made also from wood and they are part of the intermediate
wood parts of the chair’s body. In this concept there are two final products,
one with arms and one without.
Finally, even more comfort was
achieved, by studding the principles and analogies of the posture of the human
body, sitting in an armchair and by adding cushions on the seat and the back.
